Our Philosophy
NextClip was built on a simple principle: your videos are your business, not ours. We designed the app to be completely privacy-respecting from the ground up.
This isn't marketing speak. NextClip genuinely doesn't collect, transmit, or store any data about you or your videos. This privacy policy exists to document that commitment in clear terms.
What We DON'T Collect
Personal Information
We don't collect your name, email, location, or any other personal information. There's no account system, no login, no registration. You download the app and use it. That's it.
Usage Analytics
We don't track which features you use, how often you use the app, which videos you watch, or how you organize your files. No analytics services, no tracking pixels, nothing.
Video Information
We never see your video filenames, folder structures, file paths, or any metadata. Your video collection is scanned and processed entirely on your Mac. Nothing is sent to our servers because we don't have servers.
Crash Reports
If NextClip crashes (we hope it doesn't!), no crash report is sent to us. macOS may collect crash data locally, but we don't receive it. We rely on user reports to identify and fix issues.
Device Information
We don't collect information about your Mac model, macOS version, hardware specs, or anything else about your device.
What Gets Stored (Locally on Your Mac)
NextClip stores certain information on your Mac to remember your preferences and settings. This data never leaves your computer.
Settings & Preferences
Stored locally using macOS UserDefaults:
- Your three destination folder paths (for the 1, 2, 3 organization feature)
- Playback preferences (seek times, playback end behavior)
- Interface preferences (keyboard hints visibility)
- Window position and size
- Last opened folder path
Location: ~/Library/Preferences/com.yourcompany.NextClip.plist
That's it. No hidden files, no background processes, no telemetry. You can verify this yourself by monitoring NextClip's network activity - you'll find there isn't any.
Network Activity
NextClip makes ZERO network requests.
The app doesn't connect to the internet. Not for updates, not for analytics, not for crash reporting, not for anything. It's a completely offline application.
Third-Party Services
We don't use any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics platforms. No:
- Google Analytics
- Mixpanel
- Amplitude
- Sentry
- Crashlytics
- Firebase
- Or any other third-party service
NextClip is built entirely with native macOS frameworks. The only code that runs is code we wrote.
Download Information
NextClip is distributed through Github:
What Github collects:
Important: Any information about your download is collected by Github and not provided to NextClip.
For details on how Github handles your data, see their privacy policy.
Email Communications
If you contact us using our Contact form:
- We'll receive your email address and message content
- We'll use this information solely to respond to your inquiry
- We won't add you to any mailing lists without explicit consent
- We won't share your email with third parties
- We'll delete the conversation if you request it
We don't send marketing emails or newsletters. The only emails you'll receive are direct responses to questions you ask.
Your Rights
Under privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA, you have certain rights regarding your data:
The good news: Since we don't collect your data, there's nothing to:
- Request access to (we don't have it)
- Request deletion of (it doesn't exist)
- Request portability of (there's nothing to export)
- Opt out of (there's no tracking to opt out of)
Your data stays on your Mac, under your complete control. You can delete NextClip and all its preferences at any time by dragging it to the Trash.
Contact Us
If you have questions about this privacy policy or NextClip's privacy practices:

We typically respond within 24-48 hours.
Don't Take Our Word For It
You can verify NextClip's privacy claims yourself:
Network Monitoring
Use tools like Little Snitch or Wireshark to monitor NextClip's network activity. You won't find any outgoing connections.
File System Monitoring
Use tools like fswatch or OpenSnoop to monitor file system access. NextClip only accesses your video files and its preference file.
Code Inspection
As a native macOS app, you can inspect NextClip's binary to verify there are no analytics or tracking libraries included.
Privacy isn't just a promise - it's verifiable.
